Tennessee is leading the nation, and it's not by accident. In his sixth State of the State address, Governor Bill Lee outlined a vision of hope, prosperity, and strength for the Volunteer State. As our team is deeply committed to the progress and well-being of Tennessee, we were pleased to hear Governor Lee's presentation of his budget and legislative priorities for the upcoming year.

In a year that promises opportunities for growth and resilience, it's crucial to recognize the key pillars of this vision. Governor Lee's proposed $53 billion budget is not just a fiscal document; it's a testament to Tennessee's commitment to its people.

Economic Opportunity & Tax Relief
One of the most noteworthy highlights is the significant $20 million investment in Tennessee’s Rainy Day Fund, bringing our state's reserves to over $2 billion, the largest in state history. Another critical proposal is the allocation of $410 million in recurring funding and $1.2 billion in non-recurring funding to simplify the franchise tax in Tennessee, bolstering our business environment and economic foundation.

Education
Education remains a top priority, with more than $261 million earmarked to strengthen education through the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) formula growth, including teacher pay raises. Additionally, $30 million has been dedicated to summer learning programs, ensuring that learning never stops.

Expanding Choices for Tennessee Parents
Governor Lee has proposed $141.5 million to establish Education Freedom Scholarships, giving parents more control over their children's education.

Strong & Healthy Families
A commitment of $208 million over five years from TennCare shared savings is set to strengthen rural health, investing in apprenticeships, specialty care access, and more. An allocation of $100 million over five years will enhance mental health care, expanding treatment options and support.

Safe Neighborhoods
The safety of Tennesseans is paramount, with $17 million pledged for additional State Troopers and related support staff, improving public safety across the state.

A Brighter Future
Initiatives to enhance our state's natural beauty include a significant investment of $63 million to create four new Tennessee State Parks and expand blueway trail access. Additionally, $20 million will be invested in improving water quality in our rivers, lakes, and streams.

These initiatives reflect Tennessee's commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship, economic growth, and a brighter future for all. As Governor Lee stated, "Our job is to fortify that which has been built over the years and to remember the work it took to get here."
